About Hearth

How Hearth started

Around a farmhouse wood stove in 1921. Here’s our story, what we believe and who leads us.

Our story

It started around a wood stove

In 1921, five families started meeting around the wood stove in the Hollis farmhouse on Chapel Lane. In 1926 they built the little brick church next door, and Mr. Hollis painted the doors red because he had leftover paint from the barn.

We’ve repainted them a few times since. Some of the families who come now are the great-grandchildren of the ones who built it, and some moved to town last year.
